MAC address:

Unique identifier of Wi-Fi access points or bluetooth beacons coded in 6 bytes (48 bits), can be physical or virtual, public or private. The first 3 bytes are used to identify the manufacture if the MAC address is public.

 

BSSID:

MAC address of Wi-Fi access point.

 

ESSID or SSID:

Wi-Fi network name.

 

Advertising Payload:

Data emitted by a Bluetooth beacon, the data format can follow some protocol specifications like iBeacon™ and Eddystone™. It often contains an advertising ID.

 

Advertising ID:

Part of the advertising payload to identify a Bluetooth beacon, can be of type iBeacon™ ID and Eddystone™ ID.

 

iBeacon ID:

Advertising ID of  iBeacon compliant beacon. It has 3 parts: UUID (16 bytes), Major (2 bytes), Minor (2 bytes).

 

Pole Star iBeacon ID:

UUID has prefix: 504F4C455354415200000000000000. Major and minor are increased by the beacon manufacturing process.

 

BABID:

Pole Star’s internal definition, used to identify a beacon by the NAO SDK, coded in 6 bytes like a MAC address. It can be converted from Advertising ID. The conversion depends on the type of advertising ID.
