How to emulate BLE beacons using NAO logger


Introduction

Warning
  1. This "HowTo" will enable you emulating BLE beacons using the NAO Logger.
  2. This allows remote debugging. You will be able to obtain a blue dot from the NAO SDK as if you were on site.
  3. Do not use this feature on site, as this might affect the location performances for other users.

Enable the emulation feature

Install and launch NAO Logger on your Android device. This feature is not available on iOS.

Tap 10 times on the NAOSDK version number




Click on the yes button to enable the emulation feature




















Sign in NAO Logger

Choose to work online: select "Online".



















Select the site on which you want to emulate


Select the menu "Beacon Emulation"


Or, hit the main button   at the top left corner and choose the menu "Beacon emulation"


Move the green crosshairs to the area you want to emulate, hit the  button. The emulation starts, and the emulated beacons turn green.


Use of emulation for App testing


Install your application (or NAO Logger) on another device (Android or iOS), and bring the phone close to the device that is emulating beacons. See example below with the Nao logger in demo mode. You should see the blue dot appearing in your test application in the area where you are emulating beacons.
