Overview

What is Location History?

Location History allows you to view and download past location data for assets. You can see where devices were at specific times and export data for analysis.

Access: Applications > [Your Application] > Location History
URL: `/applications/{application_id}/location_history`


Key Features

Left Panel

- [ 1 ] Asset List: Select devices to view

Right Panel (Map)


- Location Points: Historical positions
- Path Lines: Movement trails
- Floor Plans: Indoor maps

Bottom Panel

- Download Button [ 5 ] : Export data 
- Selection Summary [ 6 ] : Count of selected items
- Status Messages: Progress indicators
- Records Panel Button [ 7 ]: View location records table (if available)
- Map Path Customization Menu [ 8 ] : Customize path display options

Detail Panel (after downloading location) [ 9 ]

- Asset History Records: Shows location records from asset history
- Date Information: Displays date and time data
- Record Details: View individual location entries



Basic Workflow

1. Select Date Range: Choose time period
2. Select Asset: Pick one or more devices
3. View on Map: See historical positions
4. Download Data: Export as CSV (optional)



Quick Actions

View Single Asset History

1. Select asset from list
2. Choose date range
3. Click Asset to load history
4. View path on map

Download Multiple Assets

1. Enable multi-select
2. Select assets
3. Set date range
4. Click download button
5. Wait for CSV generation

Compare Paths

1. Enable multi-select

2. Select 2-3 trackables
3. Different color per trackable
4. View overlapping paths


Data Types

Location Records

- Timestamp
- Latitude/Longitude
- Altitude/Floor
- Zone name
- Accuracy

Property Records (if enabled)

- Property values at time of location
- Property changes over time
- Recorded properties only



Limitations

Time Range

- Maximum range may be limited (e.g., 30 days)
- Older data may be archived
- Contact admin for extended history

Selection Limits

- Maximum trackables per download
- Maximum location points displayed
- Performance considerations

Data Availability

- Only recorded locations available
- Gaps indicate no location data
- Inactive periods show no data


Tips

- Start Small: Test with short date ranges first
- Multi-Select: Download multiple trackables at once
- Path Colors: Use different colors to distinguish trackables
- Date Range: Narrow range for faster loading
- CSV Export: Use for detailed analysis
